COCOA POWDER

Our cocoa powder is non-alkalised and BIO certified. While it adds a full cocoa flavour to sweet dishes and desserts, it brings homemade chocolates to perfection. Boiling cocoa powder in milk creates a delicious drink that warms the body and soul.

CULTIVATION AND ORIGIN: PERU

Finely ground cocoa bean powder

Cacao tree – an evergreen tropical tree growing under the shade of coconut palms and banana trees. Its elongated, often colourful fruits contain cocoa beans from which the resulting cocoa powder is extracted. [1]

COMPOSITION AND PROPERTIES

Phytonutrient-packed superfood

The vitamins, minerals, polyphenols and other substances contained in cocoa powder not only give it its colour and taste, they are also behind its action. Together with its high fibre and vegetable protein content, cocoa powder is literally a phytonutrient-packed superfood. [1]

Natural kicker

Because of its natural theobromine content, cocoa powder also serves as an excellent, all-natural pick-me-up. [2,3]

HISTORY

Food of the gods

Food of the gods, this is how cocoa beans are viewed. The Mayans and the Aztecs were already aware of their beneficial effects and used them to enrich their food. They were particularly fond of the hot drink ‚chocolat‘, which they sipped during ceremonial moments and rituals. [1]

USES

In sweet dishes, desserts, homemade chocolates and hot drinks

Our cocoa powder has a light brown colour and a full cocoa flavour. It is suitable for the preparation of sweet dishes, desserts and homemade chocolates. Boiling cocoa powder in milk creates a delicious drink that warms the body and soul.
